What even are blue blockers?

The electromagnetic spectrum (pictured) is comprised of visible and non visible light. A portion of visible light (400 - 500 nanometers) is blue light and this is harmful to our eyes.

We are exposed to blue light (aka junk light) when we use smart phones, ipads, computers, tv screens and even under LED lighting. This blue light is harmful as it causes, digital fatigue, eye strain, headaches, and poor sleep!

When you are exposed to blue light in the evenings after the natural sunlight has gone, this suppresses melatonin, which is the hormone responsible for our sleep wake cycle (circadian rhythm). Suppression of melatonin also causes increased ageing....who wants that!

Our range of blue blockers are for evening use only. They can be worn after sunset, optimally 2 hours before bed. They are not for day time use, as when worn during the day, they will distort other colours. Also similarly to how we need melatonin at night, we require the natural sunlight to regulate our sleep wake cycle during the day.

Our blue blockers block 95% of blue light over a wavelength of 400 - 500 nanometers.

What makes these even better is that they have an eco-friendly twist -just like our sunnies- the frames are made from FSC wood!

Protect your eyes and the environment.
